The Gator Weight Program
Our offseason weight program is ready to launch. Our players are lifting Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
and Thursday each and every week. This year we are once again doing a variant of the University of Florida football team program.
These are the same exercises and lifts that the Florida Gator football team is currently doing. Coach Ivan Fulton is in close
contact with the Florida strength and conditioning coach and we have adapted their program to fit our needs and facility.
The members of the team who participate in the offseason workouts will see results quickly.
Last year many players were amazed at how quickly and how drastically their bodies changed. This could change the lives
and habits of those who truly buy into the program.
The team has dedicated itself to performing at the highest standards and
the focus is on the upper body strength and conditioning. Mondays and Wednesday are heavy running days while Tuesdays and
Thursdays are geared toward agility exercises.
If you have not been apart of this program we highly encourage you to get on board. We work hard,
but we also have a great deal of fun. Relay races and tug-o-war are common finishers for our workouts.
We hope to see you in the weightroom.
Academics
Over the last year the focus on academics for the football program has become extremely important. With the implementation of mandatory study tables and grade checks the overall GPA of the
football team has risen significantly. We believe in teaching our players not just how to be better football players, but
also how to be better people. Grades and behavior are an important part of this concept. Our message to the team is school
first. With the proper focus on academics our players will open the door to many avenues of success in their lives. We want
all members of our program to leave Norwood High School and go on to college or a career and to become productive members
of society.
For those players who want to continue playing in college there is nothing more important than your grades in high school.
The very first item college coaches want to know about, even before their football talent, is how are their grades. Without
at least a 3.0 GPA many colleges will not recruit a player. This shows the high importance grades are for each and every member
of the team.

Hold The Rope!
A REALLY GREAT EXAMPLE OF WHAT TEAMWORK MEANS IS "HOLDING THE ROPE". IMAGINE YOU ARE HANGING FROM
THE EDGE OF A CLIFF WITH A DROP OF 500 FEET. THE ONLY THING BETWEEN YOU AND A FALL TO YOUR DEATH IS A ROPE, WITH THE PERSON
OF YOUR CHOICE AT THE OTHER END. WHO DO YOU KNOW THAT HAS THE GUTS TO PULL YOU TO SAFETY? WHO DO YOU KNOW THAT WILL LET THE
ROPE BURN THEIR HANDS AND NOT LET GO? HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU KNOW WHO ARE GOING TO WITHSTAND THE BURNING PAIN AND WATCH BLOOD
DRIP FROM THEIR HANDS FOR YOU? EACH PLAYER ON THIS TEAM NEEDS TO LOOK AROUND AT HIS TEAMMATES AND ASK HIMSELF, "WHO CAN I
TRUST TO HOLD THE ROPE? WHO IS GOING TO LET THEIR HANDS BLEED FOR ME?" THE TEAM THAT HOLDS THE ROPE WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH
ARE WINNERS.
